We can never live back
the days that are gone; instead we are left behind with memories that we
have to cherish all through our life. The most common mistake that we do is
‘Not to live the moment.’
My school days still
remain as a most blissful period in my life. Though there were assignments,
strict teachers, rules and regulations; my school days was a honeymoon period
because I had the luxury of doing anything without worrying much about the
after effects. And the best thing about my school was its signature yoga
sessions during the morning hours.
Yoga has been a part in
my life since my 8th grade. I can still remember those early morning
rush for yoga sessions into the vast hall adjacent to the playground at the ground floor of my school
building. We were made to learn, practice and
preach yoga with disciplined and vigorous teachings. Our dedicated yoga practitioners and teachers inherited their skills upon us.
All through my school
days, I have hated these yoga sessions, considering the fact that I miss my
sleeping hours as well the television hours to reach school earlier. Compromising
my favorite pastime made me feature yoga at my hate list without much confusion.
I felt the essence of
yoga only after stepping out of the school. The after effects of yoga impacts
my life till date. School days was tiresome. As a kid I might not have the
burden of carrying financial needs, work or family responsibilities, but the
study-load, series of exams, assignments and results are enough to keep me stressed.
Yes, it is easy to quote
that ‘School kids do not have any responsibility and they wouldn’t worry about
the pressure of life’. But that isn’t true, school kids are pushed to the edge of the road at an immature period of their life. Studying and scoring good marks isn’t that easy
until you enjoy what you learn. Similarly, impressing the peer group is the
toughest job of all. I might not be in a position to support somebody on the
financial grounds, but I am at the financial support of someone. And besides
all these, the questions that I am answerable about the future decisions of
my life are immense. Pressure, stress and depression are indeed the ideal friend to anyone
at school age; and that was the impact our education system gave me. Coming to
the real topic, yoga.
Yoga has really brought the
balance in my school life. I have been a student with excellence as I put my
heart and hard-work on anything I do. I have danced, rejoiced, studied, topped
the class a few times, won competitions and lived my life to the fullest during
those golden school days. When I think back about the school days, there is one
thing I lag behind now i.e. BALANCE.
Being an adult, I have
been stuffed with so many commitments like earning, getting married, managing
the financial needs and so on. It has sucked everything out of me and my true
identity. How can I get the balance again and do everything I intend to do?
That isn’t easy but it as well isn’t impossible. And it’s definitely within my
hands reach to make my life a bliss.
Looking at the
celebration of yoga on an international scale brought back the memories.
Recollecting and remembering the experience yoga has inculcated in my life, I think
it's payback time.
Now, it’s time for some
action. Start living life to its fullest.

True, often we think school going kids have no pressure other than their studies, but that is quite a burden bringing stress and tension in life. Yoga and meditation definitely help to maintain the balance in life... nice time to start afresh... (y)

DeleteHi Archana, Good to see you back here. Yoga is a refreshing activity one should carry out in order to bring in peace for both mind and soul. Good that it is promoted extensively now. BTW, this article was written by my wifey Divya. After a series of pestering activity I succeeded in making her write for my blog ;-) Hereafter, you can see her articles in various topics, especially in FOOD. Stay tuned!
DeleteYes, Gowthama, you're right; yoga should be the part of our lifestyle. Yoga has advantage over gym that one need not to carry weights while travelling. Living to its fullest should be our daily mantra.
ReplyDeleteExactly Ravish. Yoga not only make us fit but also keep us refreshing. Thanks for the comment Ravish specially for addressing me, however I didn't write this piece. Its my wifey divya.
