Night at the Museum III - A fun-filled Roller Coaster ride

IMDb Rating - 6.7/10

My Rating - 3.2/5

Tasty Bajji’s, cool breeze, wave’s touch-n-run and seemingly useless chat at Marina beach! This is how we planned for a weekend meet-up but somebody had other ideas. Yes! We just took our seats, just second row from the screen, at Inox Cinemas for ‘Night at the Museum – 3.’ Any idea on who that ‘somebody’ would be?

It’s RAIN!!!

Alright, so now you know how I end up at the theater. There was neither any expectation, nor any imagination about the movie. In fact, we were annoyed by the rain, literally. And then it took off, I mean the movie, and what a fun-filled roller-coaster ride it was. The film was a beautiful package as a whole, be it the performances from the lead, visual effects, music and witty dialogues, the film has it all. And not to forget, you get an opportunity to watch the legendary ‘Robin Williams’ in action one last time.

Alright, let’s get set off. As you know, I rate movies based on four parameters – story, screenplay, performance and music. Here we go…

What makes you stay seated?

Since it is a fantasy adventure, the story has been a greatest plus. Following a disappointing show at their previous venture ‘Night at the Museum – Battle of Smithsonian,’ Mark Friedman, David Guion and Michael Handelman (story writers) have come up with neat, well-researched adventurous story.

The primary plot revolves about the magic which is at the edge of its existence. Larry, the proactive Museum night watchman once again embarks an epic quest to save the magic before it is gone forever. This time it’s an end of the whole chapter as well. While on the journey, Larry discovers few interesting characters like Sir Lancelot, Garuda and also unites Ahkmenrah with his family.

Performance is another thing that you can rely upon with this movie for being seated throughout. There is a bunch of performers in this movie like Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Robin Williams, Steve Coogan and Dan Stevens. And there is one thing common with all the noted actors, i.e. entertainment. Be it their dialogue delivery, witty expression, behaviour or even action sometimes, you giggle at all of them. And that’s the beauty of them and this movie.

Ben stiller, once again astonishes everyone with his supreme performance both as a Museum night watchman andl as Laaa (Neanderthal) in this movie. Extra credits have to be given to his innocent-yet-funny manifestation of Neanderthal. Whenever the plot starts out serious, certain characters like Tilly, Garuda, Dexter, and Sir Lancelot take charge in amusing the audience.

And funniest of all is the Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine thing.

What would have been better?

Fantasy films are always dominated by the background score and sound mixing, but here I would rather say it’s because of the performances I stay seated. Music could have been better as the plot itself offered action-adventure. If I was asked one best thing about the most adventurous movie ‘Indiana Jones,’ my answer, without any doubt, is MUSIC and that is what I expect from each and every adventurous movies.

Another one thing that I thought could have been better is the screenplay. The Story has action, adventure, fantasy why not some spin and twist. Being a hard-core Nolan fan, I might sound in a nolanic way of identifying things. But the plot itself offered everything, just a little bit of effort is needed while writing the screenplay. May be, David Guion and Michael Handelman (Screenplay writers) would have thought of narrating such an action packed adventure fairy-tale in a clear way i.e. not-so-confusing manner. And if that is the case, I would say that they did a fabulous job, dialogues being the best part of it.

Overall, the Secret of the Tomb was a beautiful and a colourful roller-coaster ride, which one shouldn't miss.

Bottom line

Colourful, mesmerizing and mysterious journey of the night watchman ends on a high note.

  5. This was a decent movie.. Not as great as the first one though, the actor is kinda well suited for this role.. But I would really prefer someone who is a little more careless, maybe like owen wilson in the lead role..

    1. Owen wilson has done complete justice to the role given to him. And for sure his screen presence makes a lot of difference in a movie, such a fabulous actor. This is a good entertaining movie.
