Television is one of the biggest and strongest communication medium. Be it entertainment, education, news, advertising or marketing, it does it all at ease. The best part is it covers a massive crowd in short time.
I watch TV when I feel bored, happy, stressed and also when I feel like learning something. I watch shows in English, Hindi and Tamil. Language doesn’t matters; content is the one that matters the most as it is responsible for keeping you engaged throughout.
Here is one such show that engage as well as excites me.
World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE)
As the name suggests, it is all about entertainment. Earlier, it was World Wrestling Federation i.e. WWF but it is WWE now. May be, they would have realized it later that entertainment quotient is more than wrestling by itself in this show. It is typically a well-planned drama, staged and performed by trained wrestlers. Here the wrestlers are more of actors as everyone covers the audience well. It all started with the famous Hulk Hogan (his hulkamania thing) and then came the greatest superstar of all time, my personal favourite Stone Cold Steve Austin, then The Rock, HHH, Shawn Michaels, John Cena; the list goes on and on.
What I admire the most is their uncharacteristic charisma. Each superstar has that niche to attract viewers. The way they talk, express, conduct themselves are simply incredible. Assertiveness is greatly emphasized. Everyone is assertive first before getting aggressive. There is a thin line difference between assertiveness and aggressiveness.
Assertiveness is being straight forward without hurting others. It is a quality of being self-assured and confident. It is a skill that can be learnt at any stage of our life. Assertive individual put forth his ideas clearly i.e. he is good in communication. He is affirmative in his thoughts and deeds. He is an active listener and an able leader.
This is a skill in demand. HR people hunt for individuals with this skill. They set the interviews and other rounds in such a way that only assertive individuals pass through it.
I would like to stress upon a strange fact at this juncture. The demand for officers in Indian Army is on an increasing trend year by year. It is said that there are over 10000 vacancies for this post but approximately 500 seats get filled. The reason behind is their tedious selection process, which is done by SSB (Service Selection Board). SSB selects individual who is highly assertive and will never compromise on that at any point of time, even if there is a great demand.
Being assertive helps you both personally as well as professionally. There are so many training courses for this, which to my concern is a mere waste of money and time. Instead, watch WWE for an hour per week. You can enjoy as well as get benefited.
If you have missed it, don’t worry Tata Sky+ Transfer is there for you to help. You can record it even while travelling and can transfer it to your handset through Wi-Fi. Sounds exciting right? It’s not all, save some for the rest.

You brought smile to me reminding me of Undertaker, Rock, Big show... :) Nicely explained on assertiveness and mixed tata sky video with it.. Nice creative post..
ReplyDeleteBig show is still there Arun. The rock is one of the electrifying star of all times.
DeleteNice points about WWE! I don't watch it any more, but I miss Undertaker, HHH and The Rock, three of my all-time favourites. Yes, I would still suggest watching WWE instead as you said :D
ReplyDeleteHHH is the chairman of WWE and he is not looking good that way. I would rather see him in ring with others. I definitely miss Rock and stone cold..
DeleteVery intriguing post. Got to know a lot about which I wad almost unaware of. All what I know, is about the name being changed from WWF to WWE. WWF ,now, stands only for World Wide Fund for Nature (earlier--World Wildlife Fund ).
ReplyDeleteVery interestingly put forth information for a person like me who hardly knows about wrestling.
All the best for the contest.
