Entering Nature's Homeground - Vythiri Resort, Wayanad, Kerala

Amidst the pristine evergreen forest
beside the galloping waterfalls
malabar giant squirrel whistling
the yellow browed bulbul tweeting
Stands erect the alluring Vythiri resort!

Vythiri is a landlocked township sandwiched between the stunning Western Ghat ranges along the Malabar Coast of Kerala. This popular tourist destination falls under the Wayanad district of Kerala and has 5 important towns within its Taluk. They are Lakkidi, Chundale, Meppadi, Kalpetta and Kaniyambetta; Kalpetta is the headquarters of the Vythiri Taluk.

Lakkidi, one of the highest locations of Wayanad district, happens to enclose this ever-charming Vythiri resort.

Vythiri resort is located beneath the majestic Western Ghats composed of lofty ridges and valleys. Freezing water gushes through the deep valleys forming sparkling streams and waterfalls. It is enclosed by the camouflaging dense tropical forest which is even more dazzling with its endemic flora and fauna.

Vythiri resort offers five types of dwelling, namely - Honeymoon Pool Villa, Tree House, Pool Villa, Honeymoon Villa and Vythiri Haven. The details are here in the website.

We picked Honeymoon Villa as it was stunning and also matched with our budget. The idea of staying alone surrounded by lush green patches harbouring some of the rare species was exciting. Even if you stay alone in that villa you will never sense the loneliness.

The Honeymoon Villa has a spacious and romantic living area with a king-sized bed. The living area is slightly extended containing a sink-type pool on one side and a couple of couches on the other side. The pool area is connected to balcony, which was hovering over a rippling stream in a pristine natural landscape. Of course, we had an amazing time here at the villa but that's not all.

The package includes
· Half day sightseeing to Soochippara Waterfalls or Edakkal Caves or Padinjarathara Earth Dam (any one location) by Non AC Jeep.
· Guided trekking inside the resort to the natural waterfalls, streams, natural pools.etc.
·        Adam and Eve Massage at Vythiri SPA for a couple (Best of all).
·        Candle light dinner with a Honeymoon cake.
·        Delicious yet organic breakfast, lunch and dinner included in the package.

Vythiri resort is an ideal place for any couple, friends, family or anybody for that matter, to set aside their sorrows and have an pleasurable time.

Ideal time to visit: General conception is that October to May is the ideal time as the weather would be cozy emanating the mood. I would rather suggest you to visit this place during June to September (monsoon season) as the raindrops not just adds value to the place but also enhance the existing natural beauty.

How to reach: Kozhikodu, a nearest point, has good road, rail and air connectivity. It takes 3 hours by road to reach Vythiri resort from Kozhikodu railway station and an hour extra from airport as it is further away from the railway station.

P.S. The write-up is based on my stay and experience at Vythiri Resort, Wayanad. It is a paid personal trip.
