Zuka chennai

March 2016, was definitely the month of chocolate overload. With Zuka chocolatier making their way down to Chennai the excitement got doubled. That three hours journey to glimpse the lively chocolate butterflies, aroma of strong cocoa and display of chocolate fashionistas is completely worth. Now though, I shall not wait for that one weekend when Zuka made their grand entry along with Superstar Rajini’s Chocolate statue and their chocolate delicacies at R K Salai, Chennai.

It’s not even a month but I have already visited twice to pacify my sugar cravings. Keep your eyes open while travelling on R K Salai as its very easy to miss the outlet (may be a bigger hoarding); it is just below Fully Local and few blocks after Manhattan Fish Market. As you open the glass doors, the massive chocolate statue invites you for a mandatory picture. (P.S. Not sure how long the statue would be at display).

Too much sexiness at one room how could a chocolate lover resist, a keen glance through that showcase and here was the orders.

PakorasWhite, dark and milk chocolate: One of their best; though Rs.40 per piece I would any day drop just to have a piece.

TrufflesMarsipan and Florida: I liked the marshipan that reminds Kaju Katli; cashew ball coated with chocolate and nuts. Florida Orange truffle wasn’t a favorite; the texture was too hard.

And the Cakes: Surprisingly the eggless Moksha is the best, moist, chocolatey and tasty. Being a crazy follower of MasterChef I put my spoon into the Master Chef Cake (though I couldn’t recollect any connectivity to the show) to realize it was just ok not great.

Not-so-moist was the Awesome Pastry; and the Strawberry Tulsi isn’t my cup of tea.
The eggless Chocolate Mousse was Ok. May be not their day with the pastries; wish I get to taste them again.

With so much sugar overload, I ordered the Chicken Sandwich before indulging into “Serendipity”. Almost every cafĂ© at Chennai serve a similar chicken melt sandwich; tasted really good but didn’t find any necessity for spaghetti and nachos (slightly burnt). And for Rs.230 I wasn’t worth, it is better to stick to their chocolates.

And finally the much hyped “Serendipity”. I must say they lived up to that hype. The hot-smoky cocoa fragrance and that impeccable theatre as you pour the sauce on the chocolate cake is a marvelous sight. It’s karma to not dig into that beauty and comfort you with chocoliciousness.

The bills came to Rs.500 and Rs.690 INR during each visit. It wouldn’t be a disappointment to indulge into their chocolate delight. Wish they get a menu or display of their savory items and coffees.

Breaking Down Point
Location & Parking: Good. Just below Fully Local and you can park at the street before Zuka.
Ambience: Good. Chocolatey!!
Variety: Positive. Chocolate overload.
Taste: Good. Few glitches here and there but I loved their desserts.
Quality: Positive. The presentation and chocolate quality is blissful.
Quantity: Good. That quantity of chocolate in every single dessert hits you with happiness.
Service: Good. No complaints.
Price: Good. Expensive! But it’s definitely worth paying for those delights.

So my Verdict!
Zesty, Unavoidable, Killer, Addictive chocolatier – ZUKA. Go and indulge in their chocolate fair. Priced high but would be worth every penny if you are a chocolate lover. Their variety and quality are impeccable.

P.S. This write-up is based on my food palate & dining experience during my restaurant visit. Remember, no two person’s palate can be same.
