Where: Harrington Road, Chetpet, Chennai.
Cuisine: Fast Food, Café, Desserts, Bakery (Summer Special Menu)
With the name being so familiar across Chennai, they really do not need any introduction. And for this summer, they have amped up the excitement by introducing special summer menu with an array of salads, mocktails, burgers, desserts, etc. I was invited to try their summer menu at their Chetpet outlet, which is located on Harrington Road, next to Lady Andal School and below Kailash Parbat.

After the drinks took backseat, the fresh, crispy and refreshing 'Tomato, Basil, Garlic, Cheese and Olive Oil' toast made their way. The toast with fresh Baguette was the best pick for the day with delicious ratatouille. The Chicken Salsa toast was just right when it came down to taste.
The Chicken Cesar Salad is light and the Cesar Dressing uplifted the flavours which made the combination of ice-berg lettuce, croutons and grilled chicken tasty.
The 'Rock N Roll' filled with juicy and succulent chicken with flavours of barbeque sauce and cheese melting in your mouth; this was the perfect finger bite for the evening along with pickled veggies and chips. Never less was 'The Maniac', the layers of lettuce, tomato, cheese and chicken salami grilled between the multigrain bread is another great addition to their menu.
Out of all their picks, this was my favourite and shall be great cruncher between long conversations. The pitas chips and curry curlies turned to be yummilicious with the dips; tomato salsa being the best; the sour cream and mango chilli dip is also a good combo.
With a range of irresistible desserts, I wanted to have every single one of them. Controlling myself, I dig into the Chocolate Fondue, the war of who eats the most number of cake or fruits had already began. With chocolate overdose already getting on my nerves, the Brownie Rocky Road is something I shall not dare to say no. The scoop of vanilla and chocolate ice-cream on the bed of warm brownie cubes and chocolate sauce is perfecto.
One of the ideal pick for the summer was Mango Cheesecake, though I feared overload of mango syrup they presented a cheesecake which was light and filled the senses with mango love.
Breaking Down Points
Location & Parking: Positive. Easy to spot and decent parking space.
Ambience: Positive. Similar to their other outlets, maintained neatly.
Food Variety: Positive. The summer collection is small with appetizing dishes.
Taste: Good. There were hardly much complaints with just few here and there.
Quality: Good. Presentation and quality of food was impressive.
Quantity: Positive. Designed perfectly for sharing and apt considering the price.
Service: Good. Prompt and responsive
Price: NA. This is their biggest positive; affordable and total value for money. The cost for two approx. is Rs. 500-600 INR.
So my Verdict!
The French Loaf! Their special menu for the summer season is enticing in terms of variety, taste and price. If you are at their outlet then it’s time you check out the new additions.
P.S. This write-up is based my food palate and dining experience during my restaurant visit. On-the-house invite for tasting session. Remember, no two person’s palate can be same.
