It was a dark mystifying night. The dogs were barking, crickets cheeping and cats pouncing over each other amidst the roaring rain with demonic thunders. He got up hastily and sensed a strange silence in the bedroom. Everything remained still with a horrific sense of crankiness.

Trembling due to the startling stillness, he suddenly got intimidated by a touch of an arm over his right shoulder that sent chills down the spine. Wiping the tiny droplets of sweat flowing down his forehead, he turned around unhurriedly. He rather witnessed a glistening face of his wife that was like a bolt from the blue.

“What happen, dear, you look worried?” she inquired in a compassionate tone.

“Something’s odd. Isn’t it Nisha?” he asked with an intent look.

“Yeah, power-cut dear!” She replied in a rather calm voice.

“I ca..nt sleep in this awful darkness.” his voice trembled.

“Oh baby, you look worried. Come here.” She embraced him in her arms.

“Aww! Feels better sweetheart. Love you so much.”

“Love you too my darling. Sleep tight.”

He went back to bed under her arms with a tiny little smile across his chin, forgetting everything that just happened.

“Suresh…. Suresh… its time beta” his mother entered the room to see him lying down cuddled with Nisha’s favourite teddy bear.

She then saw Suresh's wedding portrait that was hanging on the wall, couldn’t resist the tears that started flowing down her eyes.
