CHINESE - DIM SUM <3
‘My Dil Goes Mmmmmm..’, whenever I hear Chinese and the love haven’t faded. And after years, they have curated a new menu with some exciting dishes for their diners. It all started with a bowl of hearty soup. The Tomato, Mushroom Clear soup was a delight. The well-boiled pieces of tomato and mushroom floating in their own juices were light and refreshing.

And from there it was a ride across the Dim Sum valley. It is tough for a dim sum fanatic like me to say enough with just one so I decided to hog until my stomach gave up. Four types of dim sum made their way to the table, I did like all of them but the favourite spot was banged by Zucchini and sweet onion dumpling, Spinach and golden garlic, Prawn Har Gao, and Fried chicken and taro dumpling. Oh! Did I mention all four of them? So I guess they were all a favourite then.

The medley of sweetness and sourness from the zucchini and onion were singing a romantic number in my mouth. And the hint of garlic amidst the spinach was a burst of bold flavours. But the road took a rocky turn as I took a bite of crispy fried chicken dumpling, the juicy and melting consistency of the minced chicken just steals the show – burst of happiness in your mouth. Probably the juiciest prawns and were drool-worthy; just try those delicious prawn dumpling to experience what I have.

As glittering as gold, the fried asparagus with the touch of chilli powder was a crispy delight. Enoki, the thinnest mushrooms I have seen and the fried version of enoki mushroom tossed with spices and spring onions is another fried delight. Though the Golden fried asparagus, Taiwan style and Enoki mushroom with five spices were a tad oily, I would never complain anything that is fried.

Seeing a table filled with just food makes me utterly happy and each dish in the main course did have a unique taste that made them shine. The crunch from the veggies tossed in the spicy bean sauce showcases in-depth flavours. The Jasmine rice and pan fried haricot beans, pickled cucumber in spicy bean sauce were a delicious pair.

Another pair of dishes I loved was Shredded Chicken with Pepper and Stir fried Vegetable Udon Noodle. The chicken tossed with bell peppers was simple yet tasty addition to their mains and I paired it with the noodles.

Never been a fan of tofu but I must admit that I never knew tofus' were this soft in texture (yes, most place serve tofu that is hard and rubbery); being a lover of spicy food, the Bean curd with Edamame in spicy basil soya sauce and Asian baked fish in banana leaf weren't the dishes that excited me the most. But the perfectly baked fish deserves a special mention. When the Pan fried lamb with ginger and broccoli took a front seat on the table, the aroma enlightened the place and the cook on the lamb was perfect.

And a sweet platter with a bowl Peanut butter soup, Nest of dragon, Chocolate dumpling and Fresh cut fruits to end the meal. The burst of chocolate in my mouth took me to a fantasy world; chocolate dumpling is pure bliss.
The warm and rich peanut butter soup with mild sweetness tastes divine. And soak those crispy noodles in the soup to cut through the richness.

Chinese food is happiness!

Breaking Down Points
Food Variety: The menu is vast and interesting; the choice of ingredients and style of cooking is different for each dish thus making them unique.
Taste: It stays with you, I loved the food.
Quality & Quantity: They excel when it comes to presentation and quality. Also the quantity is ideally designed for two.
Price: A meal for two would cost Rs. 2500 INR (plus tax) approx.

So my Verdict!
Golden Dragon at Taj Coromandel always amazes me with their food. It’s definitely the taste that draws you here. Truly lives up to their name, a food dragon.
