Mazedar Khana at Bindaas Rasoi, Sholinganallur, Chennai

What: Bindaas Rasoi
Where: Kamala Nagar, Sholinganallur, Chennai
Cuisine: North Indian

Yummy Rasoi!!
If not the distance this place shall be the one I would head out to when I am craving for tasty North Indian food. Also the ambience did the magic for me. Located at a small street, it shall be hard to spot the place so look out for the street before The Gateway hotel and they also have parking space. We were the early birds so grabbing a table wasn’t an issue.

I was stumbling to settle down with my order for the meal as the menu screams at you to try everything. So keeping it simple, it was soup, two appetisers, mains and lassi. And the garma garam (hot) Mutton Bone Soup was light and the essence of meat lifts the taste; the soft mutton pieces and consistency of the soup was bang-on.

The starters took a vegetarian detour to Dahi Ke Kebab and Tandoori Broccoli. The kebab is a total winner; the smooth and melt-in-mouth curd kebabs were flavour-filled and cooked to perfection. And the tasty mayonnaise tops them so well.
The broccoli dish had its flaws, the broccoli was soft and cooked well but the tandoor masala didn’t blend along perfectly. The sourness was domination the entire dish and I wish the broccoli had more time on the griller as it missed the charcoal and crispy edges. Also, I could nowhere sense the cheese except for the mention in the menu.

Rich, creamy and mind-blowingly delicious Shahi Butter Chicken is just a delight in mouth. I love garlic and the Lasooni Naan was just too perfect for the gravy; also the juicy chicken pieces is a bliss and one of the best tasting butter chicken I have had in recent past. Ofcourse the Tandoori Roti was also good.

The perfect way to end the meal was with a chilled drink Kesar Pista wala Lassi. I enjoyed the lassi’s consistency, right amount of sweetness and the tiny shaves of pista.

The bill was Rs. 1074 INR (including tax) for 7 dishes and the taste makes the pricing seem reasonable. It definitely was worth travelling all the way to dine there.

Breaking Down Points
Ambience: Positive. The funky dhaba style of setup with Bollywood music ringing at your ears is real good.
Food Variety: Positive. Vegetarians and non-vegetarians wouldn’t run out of options and enough variety to choose.
Taste: Good. Tasty food but nailing the flavours and presenting dish as mentioned in the menu would make it perfect.
Quality & Quantity: Positive. The dishes are portioned fine for sharing. Presentation and ingredients used to enhance the flavour are great.
Service: Positive. Good job here.
Price: Reasonable. Cost for two is Rs.1000-1200 INR approx., totally worth the money spent.

So my Verdict!
Bindaas Rasoi! First you fall in love with the place and then the food lets you stay in love. A place to grab some delicious North Indian dishes, though located in a faraway island it’s worth visiting them for the food.

P.S. Remember, no two person's palate can be same.
