The Republic Day and a concerned Indian...

Being a proud Indian is not about uploading our National flag as your profile picture or sharing some patriotic stuffs on all your Whatsapp, Facebook & Twitter and other social media pages. It is about...

=>Paying your Income and other taxes accurately on time and without any erroneous adjustments

=>Giving way for ambulance during emergency and letting the ambulance to pass alone in peace (Many commuters use Ambulance to escape from heavy traffic).

=>Following the road rules, keeping left at all costs, waiting on yellow signal and keeping the light in the dim mode when travelling in the city limits & not on a highway (people now-a-days are hardly following it).

=>Not littering, spitting or pissing and thus not spoiling our environment's beauty. At least, let us not do this for our own HYGIENE sake!

=>Utilizing your right to vote. If you don't prefer any candidate to be a suitable one, go for the last button which was recently introduced by the Election Commission (earlier it was 49 O, cancellation of vote) or it is better you stand in the election as an independent candidate (This is especially for those who wade away by saying India cannot be salvaged).

=>Being not prone to prejudices based on caste, creed or religion and having in mind that each human being is the same and made of just the same flesh and blood.

=>Respecting the cyclist or at least not bothering them. The cyclist is using cycle either because of his financial situation or because of his conscience towards the nature. In either way he is not polluting the environment. Shall we at least respect that??

=>Respecting woman and appreciating their efforts in the society. Crimes against women have to be dealt seriously and the media has to educate the public about empathy, in order to lessen the number of crimes.

There is a myriad of problems & issues in India that needs solutions, which cannot be illustrated upon considering the constraint of space and time. So, I hope you all would have understood that there is much more to a Proud Indian than just merely changing the profile picture to the Indian National flag so, think about it. Those who are asleep can be waken but those who pretend to be asleep can never be awaken

On this eve of this Republic day I thought of expressing my view on these important things. This is definitely not for likes or for publicity but an honest effort by an Indian to shed light upon a few issues.

    1. These are just a few things that came in flow while writing this post shweta. There are lot more things to be added here. People nowadays are very lethargic towards environment. It has to change. Thanks for the comment and keep visiting.

  2. I wish all these points should be realized by each and every individual.
Longing to see the city without open defecation and spitting.
Creatures in the name of human being should be heavily punished for spoiling the environment.

    1. Rightly said Revathi. Punishment should be in a serious note those who avoid traffic rules, defecate or spitting on roadways and other related things.

  3. True! Displaying patriotism should not be restricted to special days like these alone. It's about living the way you mentioned everyday.

    1. With the emergence of social media, people start expressing things in stronger note but fail to do it in reality. Thanks for the comment and welcome to Creatikaa. Keep visiting :)

  4. Hi Gowthama, You have written a wonderful post highlighting the major issues of India. Tho we have lots of them but the above listed ones can be done by all the citizens of India irrespect of their age.

I appreciate your efforts to highlight these issues and yes I agree to you that merely wishing and posting Images won't do any wonder.

This Republic day I was spreading the message of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam which means The entire world is indeed one. So I wanted to let your readers know about this too.

Thanks for sharing this eye opening post.

Have a nice week ahead. :)

    1. Indeed Rohan, all these above mentioned things can be done by everyone irrespective of their age, rightly said. Patriotism should be felt instead of just saying it. Thanks for sharing your views and spreading messages of an important verse of Mahopanishad, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. Great to see a young lad coming up with such things. Highly appreciated.

      Happy blogging :)
