I'm here again - That Madras Place - Adyar - Restaurant Review

What: That Madras Place
Where: 2nd Main Road, Kasturibai Nagar, Adyar, Chennai
Cuisine: European, Italian, Desserts

I am no way new to That Madras Place, though I have visited them many times as as reviewed them (Check my previous post) already they still continue to surprise when it comes to experimenting and presenting new dishes in their menu. Another visit that was filled with whole new food items which I got to taste. Even if I visit them for an on-the-house tasting session I end-up shedding my money purchasing their desserts or food; that shall be a proof for how good the food tastes.

And this time it was all about Cheese, my everlasting love. Though I had to wait to meet Mr. Cheese, our tummies were kept happy. After a strong Hazelnut Cappucino, the zesty and finger-licking Chicken Fingers cooked in homemade spice mix were juicy and tasty as well a best way to kick-start the meal. To console the majority vegetarian souls, the rest of the food was veg-friendly and they were no-less than perfection.

Though the bitter aftertaste of Zucchini was a spoiler that’s how they were supposed to taste and those crispy Zucchini Fritters with chilly mayo became a favourite as I started enjoying the bitterness. As I dig into the ‘Caprese Salad’, a slice of mozzarella cheese and tomato in the bed of pesto sauce and balsamic reduction was refreshing, light and packed with flavours.

Even after crushing my way into the Bruschetta for ‘n’ number of times, the Olive Tapenade Bruschetta is one of the best and the drizzle of lemon does the magic. When Classic Tomato Basil ones are refreshing, they do have one for the mushroom lovers - the Mushroom Duxelle. A new addition but wasn’t a favourite of mine is the ‘Roasted Eggplant Pesto’ bruschetta.

These round crumb-fried mozzarella cheese slices was another exciting addition to the menu and they weren’t a disappointment. And this time the Caprese Burger was loaded with cabbage, tomato, pesto sauce and three huge chunks of crispy-cheesy mozzarella slices, which was perfect for a cheese-person. Remember, resting them for long isn’t a good option as the cheese turn hard.

Always the best is kept for the last and the humongous parmesan cheese wheel arrived. As the pasta gets tossed inside the wheel and the plate gets loaded with Cheesy Spaghetti Aglio E Olio. This was literally how I was dreaming my plate of Aglio E Olio should taste and finally got that wish-list checked. Oh, just eat this to know what I mean. That theatre and huge portion of pasta (would be perfect for two hungry fellas) is priced Rs.500 INR, costly but it’s parmesan we are talking about ;-) For the creamy tomato love, the Pomodoro Spaghetti was tossed in the cheese wheel and served. Yes, it was good but the winner was ‘Aglio E Olio’.
Even after the cheese overload I couldn’t say no to Cheesecake. Simple and cheesy is how the Baked Cheesecake from Chubby Cheesecakes tasted; I didn’t like them with strawberry coulis. After a hearty meal I had to take some goodwill home so grabbed the cheesecake, theobroma and Spaghetti Aglio E Olio.

Checkout my previous post to know about Location and Ambience.
The taste and food quality as always impressed me and their new additions on the menu are bang-on. Desserts are a must try as they sell goodies made by best bakers in town.

Breaking Down Points
Food Variety: Positive. New additions on the menu are bang-on.
Taste: Good. They never fail to surprise me.
Quality: Positive. The plating and quality is at its best.
Quantity: Good. WRT what I tried, it would be perfect for sharing between two.
Service: Positive. No complaints.
Price: NA. Definitely ‘Expensive’ but the quality would justify that.

So my Verdict!
That Madras Place! There food as never failed me; except for the expensive price tag that place deserves an invite by Italian & Dessert lovers.

P.S. This write-up is based my food palate and dining experience during my restaurant visit. On-the-house invite for tasting session. Remember, no two person’s palate can be same.
